Tackle poor performance & absenteeism – Now!
At a time when it is crucial for all employees to work effectively and efficiently, it is very important that managers monitor their staff’s performance and give them appropriate feedback or take the necessary action. You should make sure that those employees who are not performing well or have high absence records are managed fairly but firmly.
Employees who are working well, but are worried about the current jobs situation, will not want to ‘carry’ colleagues who are not playing their part in the team.

If you have new staff working through their probationary period, make sure that you review their performance and that you don’t allow issues to drift. Tackle them promptly and if you have serious doubts talk to your HR advisor about the actions you should take. Quite often those employees that cause employers problems during their probationary period go on to cause more issues later if they are not resolved early on in their career.
However, any action you take must be in line with statutory requirements and your internal procedures. For advice on how to deal with these issues contact Cherington HR on 0845 603 6696.
